You are still young and can take the drying effects of alcohol. Its an old acne remedy that still works. I went through the same thing with my son. He tried everything, including a total fat free diet and tons of water and nothing worked. One day, I threw everything out and bought a bottle of alcohol. After washing his face three times a day, he would wipe an alcohol saturated pad and within one week it started clearing up.

I've tried special soaps, gels, and creams, you name it, to get rid of my acne and acne scars. I found an online resource that said that acne is really caused by internal health problems that show up on your face or back as acne. I also learned that creams and lotions that I had been using could even be making my acne worse. Just what I needed!!

My acne improved within the first week when I started following the recommendations that this ebook described to clean up my overall health. Almost completely gone in 2 and a half weeks and clear skin in a month. I even feel better overall. My friends say I glow. I know I'm not embarrassed by my acne any more.

I've dealt with severe acne since I was in third grade and there really isn't much you can do besides go see a dermatologist, learn your skin type, and find good moisturizers and facial washes. I've tried proactiv, clean and clear, different prescription medications and I've learned that it's trial and error with these kind of things. For example I have really sensitive skin so I can't use what normal people use to treat their acne and almost anything I use irritates it. I also get really dry and oily skin at the same time which makes it even harder to fnd a solution. I'm kind of done with trying products so right now I'm not using anything but facial wash and coconut oil (feels SO good on dry skin with acne) and i wear makeup to cover it up. Btw I'm 15 if you need to know. Basically, I'd recommend seeing a dermatologist to tell you more about your skin type, etc. I can judge based on your experiences that drugstore products aren't good for you, because they have the same thing: benzoyl peroxide. Everyone raves about it, but in the past it's made my skin worse. So I wouldn't use anything with it. It's cheap (it's the main ingredient in proactiv soo it's not worth paying extra when you could get the same thing for waaaayyy cheaper) and it only drys out your skin. When I went to the dermatologist he told me that proactiv is actually horrible for your skin. Sorry for rambling lol. I hope I helped!

The key to clearing up acne, unless its hormonal, is to cleanse thoroughly and that means wash your face more than twice a day. ( If you're a teenager, it's hard because some people develop acne in response to all the hormonal changes their bodies are going through, and yes, boys have hormones too!) If you can get your hands on a little bottle of Burt's Bees acne solution, that has worked great for my son. Also, it's clear, so you don't see anything. If you can see a dermatologist, sometimes they can prescribe certain drugs, i.e., antibiotics such as tetracycline, and that can clear you up pretty fast.

The "under the skin" acne can be very unresponsive to topical treatment. Your best bet is to visit a dermatologist (if you get a referral from your doctor your health insurance will probably cover it) and get an oral medication. Another option is an oral contraceptive, which regulates hormones that cause acne.
