Question:
Will unscented Dove soap clear up my acne & such?

I have dry skin, that has a lot of acne :P Smaller bumps all over my face. I used to use a lot of acne washes, toner, moisturizer, treatment, etc. It would work for about a week and then make it dryer & worse. My mom was telling me to stop using all of these things, and just use hot water and a wash cloth. That worked for a bit, then stopped. My aunt suggested using plain, unscented Dove soap for sensitive skin. She never had bad acne (like my mom) and this is what she's used forever. Do you think it'll work for me!? Please answer & sorry it's so long. And please don't suggest me other products to use, thanks!

When I was a teen I went to a dermotoloogist and she told me to stop using all those fancy products they have out such as clearasil, noxema. She recommended unsented dove soap. It helped a lot. Dove will not dry your skin out since it's not technically a soap. IMO the bar dove soap is better compared to liquid wash.

Dove Soap For Acne

i use cetaphil cleanser and its very nice on the skin. It's the lightest cleanser i could ever find and there's no acids in it to harm your skin. I used to use so many different acne washes and they all either burned my skin from the acids or just dried it up and made it worse. I have struggled with acne for years. I couldn't get my acne to go away until i finally went on birth control pills just for my acne (yes they do let 14 year olds go on birth control which suprised me lol ) which cleared up my bad acne within a couple months. Now my skin is clearer and smoother than ever. The only thing left behind are some scars which dermatologists can give a prescription for certain creams. I would reccomend you either just wash your face with water alone, dove, birth control (unless your already on it), drinking lots of water, or cetaphil which is also dermatologist reccomended and can be bought at stores like walmart. Dove seems to work for one of my best friends but she's never really had a problem with acne..Hope i helped.

Do no longer use ordinary soap, not to mention Dove, in your face...and perhaps even on other parts of your body. sadly, i found out too late that it has sodium tallowate and coconut acids, which go away a thick film and are extraordinarily pore clogging. I switched because salicylic acid was just nerve-racking me an excessive amount of, however sadly this cleaning soap ended up just inflicting extra troubles. at the same time as my pores and skin's underlying texture isn't purple and bumpy anymore, I now have real pimples in locations I in no way even did. My forehead is typically 95% clean; I used this cleaning soap for maybe 2 days on the maximum, twice an afternoon, and now i have 4 very painful, itchy WHITEHEADS. i am so embarrassed, I cannot even cowl them and they're pretty red, nor do I want to pop them and reason scars. The bar also gave me a few deep clogs on the bottom 1/2 of my face it's acne-susceptible, in which i've been clean.

just avoid this, it's not a reasonably-priced therapy to repair your pimples

Hi I also have dry sensitive skin alone with eczema. I too was using products other than dove and it left my skin red then it would get dark.

I'm now just starting to use dove soap, the "unscented" because my skin can't take the fragrance. After using the dove soap, I moisturize my skin or lotion it because even the unscented dove soap can leave your skin dry.

So I say try it out and make sure you moisturize your skin afterward.

Good Luck

Hi! Okay if you have mild acne such as small pipes and such you should stick to acne cleansers with 2% salicylic acid. This will help you control the acne. I myself had big pimples on my skin and a lot of products with salicylic acid didn't work on me. I learned that benzoyl peroxide works to clear skin with larger pimples. So I started using the AcneFree three step system (pretty much like the proactive system) and I used it for a long time. Like six months so the product would itself into my skin. As for your question about using dove soap i suggest you give it a try. You have nothing to lose and let it work itself into your skin for about three months. I know it seems like a long time but it might work that way! For me it didn't work but my acne was bad compared to yours. If that doesn't work i suggest you try a three step system either from AcneFree or where ever you want. GOOD luck!! :)

NATURAL ACNE PROTOCOL

1/ Never, ever touch your face.

2/ Use 3 facecloths to wash your face, one to soap on, one to soap off with very hot water, one to rinse off with ice cold water, in that order, once a day.

3/ If you are under 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A once a day with a full meal

4/ If you are over 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A twice a day with a full meal.

Do not get pregnant while taking vitamin A. Do not take any more, like Accutane, it will stop you growing.

5/ Never, ever. pick, squeeze or pop your spot. Read number 1 again.

6/ Do this for 90 days.

7/ Invest in a brand new pillow and 2 new or more pillow cases to double bag' your pillow. HOT wash every couple of days.

Source:

A bit of advice given to me as a teenager, a bit of science as I am studying allergic reactions and vitamin A is a part of that. A bit of research: I sat in a lecture at the back and watched the acne prone pick at their faces, those with the worse acne touched their faces 32 times in an hour, the clearest complexions didn't touch their faces even once. I have circumstantial evidence that acne is the result of dermatophyte transfer from hands to face...where it does not get washed off and is well fed by hormones, sweat a

nd oil...just a hypothesis... But it would explain why vitamin A is so effective as vitamin causes skin to remove dermatophytes.

The secret is never to touch the spots

Tips on how to treat acne and achieve perfect clear skin in as little as 7 days?

Bad exercise/diet 50% chance you have acne. The other 50% is hormones.

By eating a lot of veggies and fruits you will avoid a lot of red bumps.

You shouldn't use soap. Its harsh to your skin.

You need something natural for your skin (obviously). Plain yogurt and strawberry or cucumbers (either one). Works as a facial cleanser. It will help to keep your skin clean and acne free but it won't finish the job.

You should drink a lot of milk.

If you don't like certain veggies, then you should try getting Hidden Valley ranch dipping so your veggies will taste good.

a lot of exercise is also important.

If you r going to use strawberries or cucumbers for the plain yogurt, you the strawberry or cucumber to apply the yogurt and leave it on for 7 minutes then wash it off with water.

Also, use body wash instead of soap because body wash was made for skin and made with certain types of butter. I use olay ultra moisture with shea butter and it works great to keep skin soft.

Try olay ribbons or the Dove unscented bodywashs. Good luck :)

What works for one person may not work for another. However, you can try the Dove,,,,,it is inexpensive and might help. I found that Philosophy's Purity Made Simple facial wash cleared my complexion. My grandmother was known for her smooth, perfect complexion and she used only (original) Cuticura soap her entire life. Consult a dermatolgist if none of these suggestions help.

Wash with warm water three times daily, don't scrub, rinse with cool water. Use Witch Hazel if you want to use an astringent.....Never, never go to bed without first washing your face.

Definatly try it out, get the unscented type though and see what happens within a week, and if it doesnt work, try this product out its FABULOUS, it cleared up all my acne. Its called "Cetaphil"

But check out the Dove unscented one first

It might work...

I'll tell ya what works for me:

1. Washing my face with a facial cleanser every morning and night in the shower

2. Drinking heaps of water and if you like green tea, drink that

3. Eating healthy foods like fruit and veggies

Diet plays a big part! Also avoid make-up and stuff but as long as you wash your face morning and night then you can wear it if you want.

I do this and I have hardly any problems.

Yes, I've learned that dove soap works best for my face. I have little black heads around my nose, and I can't stand them. I've tried everything from putting steam on my face, to putting Elmer's glue only my face because I heard it got the black heads out. However, Dove works for me, and now I only have a few black heads.

you need to have a routine, always cleanse twice everyday, get a cleanser that suits your skin type, oily, dry, normal/combined, sensitive. i cleanse then use a lotion that works beautifley on my skin the lotion smooths my skin for a more even look and it has salicylic acid in it to dissolve dirt and oil that get clogged in your pores to cause those nasty breakouts. you need to keep a routine going for something like 2-3months to be able to see any improvement(a long time i know but i have been using the same routine for about 3weeks and tbh im already seeing quite abit of improvement) you can also try putting lemon or tea tree oil on your blemishes this helps them to reduce in size and redness. if you think you need to use a toner(i don't because i don't think i need one but everyone's skin is very different) then get one that it specially for acne but make sure it is alcohol free as this is what could be making your skin dry. and most importantly drink plenty of water, plenty of sleep, eat healthy(fruit&veg) cut back on fatty foods! have a good healthy diet and always have good hygiene. oh and moisturising is very important even on the oilyest skin! get one that has vitamin e in it, it restores all the skins natural goodness, and makes dry skin very soft, and the best bit about this kind of moisturiser is its not expensive and it heels blemishes with 2days :) hope this has helped :) x

Might sound weird and something crazy to do. But, toothpaste really works. Don't have to go out and buy a expensive brand use the one you have at your house. How long you leave it on is truly up to you. Some leave it on for a few minutes. Some leave it on till it starts to split. And don't leave it on overnight. I'm not a wild sleeper I sleep on my back so I leave it on overnight since I don't go to bed till like 1 in the morning and have to wake up at 5.

dont use dove on your face ! it will make your skin even dryier. what you want to use is a nice oil free moisterizer from proactive or nutragenia. this will help fight acne weil stop dryness.
