Skin Rash, any ideas?

I've had a rash for a little while (a year) on my thighs, kind of all the way around front and back, but recently more just on the front. Sometimes on the buttocks. I went to a dermatologist who told me it's folliculitis, she didn't have to think twice when looking at it she was positive and gave me Amoxicillin (500mg) for it which i took twice a day for awhile and it cleared it up for the most part, never completely, but it wasn't embarrassing how bad it was when i was taking it. I just finished taking it for the second round or whatever about three weeks ago and the pimple like red rash came back (they're usually really deep and big). The sores or pimples or whatever often get irritated and form a large red circle around them.

Other issues I have, I used to take amoxicillin for acne and around wintertime i noticed that I had some joint pain, went to the doctor who thought it might be drug induced lupus, so i got a lupus test while on the drug and it came back negative. The joint pain generally only happens when its cold out or when its about to get cold, and its never so bad i can't move, more just annoying.

I have asthma, always have, so does everybody else in my family.. mom, dad, sister, grandma, grandpa.

I have what seems like constant jock itch, dermatologist always tells me its just irritated skin (is she just stupid? or am i a hypochondriac???)

I also have an irritated red patch on my head that gets flaky, she gave me a dermatitis cream to use on that and it works great, but again as soon as i stop using it, it comes back.

I get flaky skin inside my ears....

Well this morning I woke up and i have this "folliculitis" rash thing on my left forearm, like 15 bumps all over, its embarrasing.... I have to wear a long sleeve shirt to cover it up......

Is it something autoimmune??? or what? I called a different dermatologist this morning and told them i NEED an appointment on monday morning ASAP but now im all worried. I dont think it can be an std or anything related to that because I have only had sex with one girl (who is my girlfriend) and i've had a herpes test that came back negative. I have fooled around with like one other girl in the past but im pretty sure all of this started before either my girlfriend or that girl.....

I know im a mess but my dermatologist just doesn't seem to help and i'm sick of having all these problems....Please help or give me some information!!!!

And for the most part I feel healthy other than my skin issues, nothing else wrong with me!

You're not too bad of a mess! Just a few (very annoying) skin issues, I don't think you need a dermatologist for this. Save yourself time and money and go to your family med doc/pediatrician for this (no specialist fees). They usually have shorter wait times and can treat folliculitis, which is what this sounds like. Do you have diabetes or are you on any other meds? Do you shave your legs there?

Jock itch: should only happen in the crease/fold between your leg and pubic bone where moisture can collect. very unlikely on your legs.

Edit: Folliculitis is usually caused by native skin steptococcus or staphylococcus species, gram positive bacteria. Both respond to amoxicillin.

I would say all your skin reactions are due to an overactive immune system.

I would love for you to have a faecal transfer....it is proving to change the reactivity of the immune system.

However, for the 'folliculitis', which I guess if more fungal, wash with Nizoral shampoo every day, 2% ketoconazole.

Also take a teaspoon of cod liver oil with every meal. This works on the skin from inside. (5,000 iu vitamin A, once a day also works.)
