I have found neosporin to help with the scabby zits. It kills germs - and thats what pimples are, infected pores.

Exfoliating helps some with scars. But dont expect miracles.

As far as the dryness - The trick is to find something that will add moisture without making you break out.

The fact is that nothing you put on effects how your skin replicates 28 layers down - but dryness just makes you look flakey - and thats not too pretty.

I have had luck with something called "derma-e vitamin A wrinkle treatment gel". The vitamin A is good for the skin, and it has no oil in it. It dries much like aloe vera gel, but it does seem to help my skin heal without scarring as much - though not faster. Go figure. Its about 10 bucks for a 8 oz bottle and thats about as cheap as face stuff gets. It can be found online or in health food stores.

Oh - and if you are drying out from acne meds, switch them.

Another thing that helped me use less meds was cold therapy. Basically, get a bag of frozen peas and put it on your face after you washed. Get the skin all over good and cool for like a 5 minutes. Then apply a thin layer of benzoyl peroxide or a salicyic acid product. The cold helps the medicine get into the pores. Try it for a few weeks. It works well - a plastic surgeon told me about it - and after a while you wont have to use them as often (I alternate between the two about every other nght now)

And using less medication will help a lot when it comes to the dryness.
