2 1/2 years ago my father and I went swimming in the sacramento river. Ever since he has been suffering with a skin condition or disorder. There are visible open sores all over his body, just a few at a time. I'm not sure if this is from bacteria, bugs, parasites or him scratching at it. He has tried seeing different medical specialists and has had no luck, one specialist thinks it's all in his head but my father is very mentally stable and shows no sign of imagining things. None of the specialists think that it is scabies either. Sometimes he thinks it's going away and the itchiness comes back everytime. He's tried bathing in all sorts of oils and chemicals every night and nothing works permanantly. I've lived with him and my mother the whole time he has had this condition and have never felt the same thing so I do not think it is contagious. It is driving him deep into depression and he is losing hope, it kills me to see my dad like this. I have even developed a sleep disorder due to thinking about it so much before bed Please help, if you have any questions I will answer. Anything will help! Thank you for reading.

You need a dermatologist that can give your father some tests, these will show something, allergies, parasites or ? was he in the service, if so, where was he stationed. In the Pacific theatre they brought back anything from parasites to coral fever that's hard to treat. He needs the tests first. Did he have anything to do with agent orange in 'Nam. Was he in the Far East or any Asian countries.?

The hot weather is most likely drying out your skin, just keep putting lotion on, I've had the same thing happen to me, stay moisturized and the feeling should subside. :)
