what does it mean if my bums still itchy after being wormed?

i thought i had an infestation cause it was driving me insain scratching and that so i went out and brought some tablets but 3 days later its still going and its starting to hurt from the constaint scratching

Dogs have a 2 scent glands located around the anus at 4 and 8 o'clock. These are expressed during normal bowel movement. If a dog is having softer stool than normal these glands can become full and be very itchy. Worst case scenario they become impacted and infected! I don't think there is anything you can do at home for this. A vet usually will express these if they are too full. Or your dog could have worms, that can cause anal itch. Good Luck! Tanya

Provided the worms have been killed off, you could be having the after effects of scratch itch scratch syndrome. Put some zinc oxide cream around the tender area of your butt and it will heal in a few more days. As a comforting thought, I hope your sore bum will soon be back to its normal self.
